Summary:
This position supports the Director of Injury and Violence Prevention by developing and implementing research strategies with the goal of injury and violence prevention. This position focuses on patterns of risk and protection, including social, psychological, and geographic mechanisms that contribute to child trauma. The position is responsible for contributing to a nationally recognized program of injury research and will design research and evaluation projects, analyze data from various databases and sources, perform statistical evaluation, disseminate findings in scientific publications, reports and presentations, and work with colleagues to design interventions. This position also assists with program development, research, and quality improvement for the programs within the Trauma Department

Responsibilities:
* Designs, implements, and leads scientific studies focused on injury and violence prevention
* Consults, monitors, and evaluates the outcome of injury and violence prevention programs
* Conducts a range of complex epidemiologic, ethnographic, and surveillance activities
* Assists in development of grant applications and budget documents.
* Provides statistical expertise and scientific advice to the Injury Prevention Program and Trauma Service
* Opens and maintains institutional approval for research studies including, but not limited to initial UT Institutional Review Board submissions (creating consent forms, HIPAA forms, project summaries), new research questionnaires for IRB and
* Children's Medical Center Research Department, amendments, annual reviews, and adverse event reporting. Maintains effective working relationship with physicians, nursing, and all other staff conducting research at Children's.
* Coordinates with Trauma Registry team in obtaining trauma registry reports as needed and approved for research studies and process improvement projects.
* Collaborates with research/leadership team to implement an integrated clinical data system and statistical analysis plan, which includes communicating statistical results, writing analysis sections for research protocols and manuscripts.

* At least 2 years job related experience Required

EDUCATION
* Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Doctoral Degree in Public Health, Anthropology, Psychology, or related field required Req
